The holiday season is a time of joy, but it is also a time of serious consideration. So it’s a good time to think about our food. The facts are clear. The foods most of us eat every day make us sick.
We have all known it for a long time. But now, new research published in the Journal of the American Medical Association Neurology shows that our bad dietary choices can also impair cognition and even cause dementia. It doesn’t mean you shouldn’t eat it, but it does mean that most people need to change their approach to eating as a whole.
How much proof do you need before you change your eating habits? There is But the data we have on poor diets is not from peripheral groups obsessed with extreme agendas. A poor diet makes us sick and affects our ability to think.
To be honest with myself, it has long been known that nutritional deficiencies cause not only obesity, but diabetes, high blood pressure, heart attacks, strokes, and certain types of cancer. It has been found to lead to disability and even dementia.

When buying one, check the label. You may be surprised to see the ingredient list. If you don’t know the ingredients, you probably shouldn’t eat it.
Why do we continue to abuse our bodies on a daily basis? Part of the problem is our environment. If we look around, we see colorful packaging, attractive advertising, and everyone we know eating. How does food matter? Because that unhealthy diet is so well received by everyone around us, we are settling into submission.
We also tend to be present-oriented. Today, we are not facing any serious consequences from bad eating habits, so we tell ourselves that everything should be fine. . If we don’t know right away, it must not be true. And so it goes on.
This is a good time to make real New Year’s resolutions. Don’t decide to pursue it furiously for a month or two and then give up. Keep it simple this year. Make a commitment to consistently eat healthy for the rest of your life. Then you will live longer and have a better quality of life while you are alive.
Eliminate fast food burgers, fries, tacos, fried chicken and deli meats. Avoid cookies, packaged pizza, most frozen entrees, all soft drinks, sausages, and sugary cereals. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. You have to get into the habit of reading labels. Eat fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grain breads, and avoid dairy and meat. Yes, it’s tedious and time consuming. But aren’t you worth it?
Basically, you should start cooking at home with whole, natural vegetables, fruits and ingredients. We all know how busy we are, and fast food and prepared meals are quick and easy. But remember, it’s just not good for you. Over time, it will hurt you. Change next year. come on. Put in the extra time you need to make food that supports your physical and mental health and keeps you alive. Can you really think of a better investment for your time?
New Year is almost here. Take a walk on the wild side and think about this. Eating healthy is a gift to yourself and your loved ones. Well worth the effort.
