Nutritionist Rashi Chowdhary suggests the following food changes for a healthy diabetic diet.

1. Switch to green mung dal chila, which is rich in protein and fiber and super easy to make, instead of regular poha. Here’s a moong dal chila recipe you can try.
2. Replace regular atta roti with low glycemic index jowar roti if you want to avoid eating too many carbs. Rashi Chowdhary also warned against ragi flour which has a relatively high GI. Here is a jowar roti recipe you can try.

3. Instead of cereal and granola, you can opt for store-bought egg- and grain-free granola.

4. Fruits are naturally sweet and some fruits have more sugar than others. Replace sweet fruits such as bananas with nuts.

5. Avoid artificial sweeteners. If you need to sweeten your meal, use natural sweeteners such as monk fruit. But remember to consume in moderation.
